"I Wanted to be A Medical Doctor" - Enrich Farms CEO

Updated: Nov 15, 2019

On this episode of Start-Up Chronicles, we got together with the founder of Enrich Farms Nigeria Ltd, Mr Subair Sulaimon, as he shared his story as an Agropreneur with us. Here are some of the things we discussed:

Agricmania: Why Agriculture?

Mr. Subair: Quite frankly, agriculture was not my first choice of course when I applied to the university. I wanted to become a medical doctor. However, when I was not given an admission for MBBS, I opted to study agriculture and the rest was history.

I have no regrets about that decision, as animal production has been an innate passion for me. Progressively, I’m turned my passion into a profession.

Agricmania: What challenges did you face starting your farm, and how did you overcome they?

Mr Subair: Funding was my biggest challenge, but luckily, I got a sponsor willing to invest in my animal production dream.

Agricmania: How does being a farmer affect other areas of your life?

Mr. Subair: Being a farmer has developed a resilient attitude in me, as well as the courage to be a risk taker. It also taught me to manage resources better, as I’m now a prudent spender.

Agricmania: Looking back, what qualities carried you through the thick and thin of managing an agribusiness?

Mr Subair: Courage and determination. God gave me the courage to start, and I approached people I knew could help. Determination helped me to keep moving despite the numerous hitches along the way.

Agricmania: What is your goal moving forward?

Mr Subair: Our goal at Enrich Farms is to create distinct product that satisfies our customers while increasing our capacity to address food security nationwide

Agricmania: What can you say to budding Agropreneurs?

Mr. Subair: Equip yourself with all the necessary information and knowledge needed before starting your farm

Agricmania: Thank you sir.
